Whether the garden is mini or large and the hobby of gardening is big or small, one plant gets in almost every house, and that is the Pothos (Money Plant).

Does Money Plant make money? Why do we call it the Money Plant?

No, the Money Plant does not make money. It's just a matter of saying. It is a myth.

Money plant purifies our surroundings, absorbs harmful components from the air, and makes us healthy, and health is wealth. So we call it the money plant.

You can put money plants anywhere in your house like; in your bedroom, in the drawing-room, in the bathroom.

Varieties of Money Plant

It has several varieties, but the most commonly seen are as follows:

1. Epipremnum Aureum Pothos

It is the most common variety of MoneyPlants (Pothos); you will see this variety in many homes.

In this variety, more green and some yellow colors will appear.

2. Marble Queen Money Plant

In this, you will see more variation with marble effects on leaves; more white and less green colors will appear.

3. Neon Pothos

It is also called golden Pothos.

Its color is very bright green; in this, no variegation will appear.

4. N'joy Pothos

N'joy Pothos leaves are small in height, a bit thick in size, and come too close.

It looks great in a hanging basket.

How To Prepare Its Soil

Money plant roots need a well-draining loose soil mix to grow fast, which makes the plant grow faster and healthier.

For making soil, use ¼ cocopeat, ¼ sand, ¼ compost, and ¼ soil.

PROPAGATION

Many of us buy money plants only once and try to propagate them. Many of us succeed in developing them. And some fail to grow.

So, let's discuss the guaranteed methods for propagating the money plants.

Soil layering

You will be soiling one or two nodes of a branch in the same pot or another pot. Within two weeks, you should start to see roots. And then, you can cut it from the mother plant and grow it as an independent plant.

Cuttings

You can also successfully grow through cuttings. But remember to put the nodes(aerial roots) in the soil or water, not the only stem without the nodes.

If you grow in water, change the water every 3-5 days and use one aspirin medicine(it is not necessary to add it) for faster growth in the roots whenever you change the water.

SUNLIGHT

Money plants will survive in low light conditions, but if you want to grow fast, put the pot in a we

ll-lit place. It will burn the leaves when it is in direct sunlight.

WATERING

Money plant does not need too much water, so give water when the soil is not sticking to your finger or on alternate days. Make sure the water will be throughout the drainage hole.

FERTILISER

Money Plant needs a lesser amount of fertilizer: once every three months is enough for a standard container of the Money plant.

Any type of fertilizer, like Cow Dung Compost, Vermicompost, or homemade compost, is best for money plants.

The important thing is to avoid chemical-based fertilizers like urea, NPK, etc.

PESTICIDES

In the Money plant, hardly any pest will attack, but in some cases, any insect will attack the money plant. Firstly remove the infected leaves and spray 5ml neem oil with 1L of water and put 3-5 drops of hand wash for mixed oil in the water to the whole plant.

And if you like to never insect will attack the plant repeat, mention above process every month.

BUSHY MONEY PLANT

For bushy and large leaves, cut the stem at the tip for the new side growth during the growing period. And you can repeat it depending on how you like your plant to look. And spray one teaspoon of Epsom salt mix with 1L of water(once in about ten days), and use a moss stick for growing the aerial roots in the stem.

Cutting off the tip is important because when you don't cut it, it will only grow in a single row, and after a year, it will drop its old leaves when your plant gets older. And your plant will not look bushy and nice.

REPOTTING

Repotting is only needed if you grow your plant in a small pot. Roots begin to emerge from the container. Repot your plant when it is in its growing season as it will tolerate it. If you do not repot during the development period of the plant, the money plant's chances of growth have reduced.
